Salt Spray Tester

Test Method:  Operating Salt Spray-Fog (ASTM B117)

Meaning:

The Salt Spray test is used to assess the corrosion resistance of metals to rust formation, conducted using a salt spray test chamber.

Conditions:

  • Chamber Temperature: 35 ± 2°C
  • NaCl Solution Concentration: 5% by weight (50g NaCl per 1L of water).
  • Salt Spray Pressure: 1.0-2.0 mL per hour with pH 6.5-7.2
  • Test Duration: Dependent on the material and coating being tested

Evaluation:

  • Based on corrosion observed on the test material surface.
