Test Method: Water Separability (ASTM D1401)

Conditions:

  • Temperature: 54°C (28.8-90 cSt @40°C) and 82°C (> 90 cSt @40°C)
  • Apparatus: Mechanical stirring (standard ASTM D1401 paddle)
  • Sample volume: 40 mL -> Oil 40 mL : Distilled water 40 mL
  • Stirring time: 5 minutes (Observation time: Up to 30 minutes)

Evaluation:

  • Reported format: Oil-Water-Emulsion (mins)

Oil = mL of Oil

Water = mL of water

Emulsion = mL of emulsion

(mins) = Time (mins)
